Colorado Politics: One day after she gave trial judges blanket permission to discontinue livestreaming in criminal cases as required under a 2023 Colorado law, Chief Justice Monica M. Márquez received varying degrees of support from the legal community.

“My reaction is: It’s about damn time, and it’s too bad the pause is just a few months,” said retired Denver District Court Judge Morris B. Hoffman.

On Tuesday, Márquez issued a chief justice directive to judges ordering a “90-day statewide pause” on the legal requirement that criminal proceedings be livestreamed by default.
