At a recent community meeting, Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul Lopez provided an update on what to expect on Nov. 3. Some national disrupters — namely the president of the United States — have already begun trying to sow distrust in the election system. During a lively presentation, Lopez rejected those deceits, detailing how our elections are safe and foolproof. 

But, as we have seen recently, threats to officeholders can be real. In June, 2025, two lawmakers and their spouses were shot in Minnesota. The violence highlighted the delicate balance of safety, privacy, and living in the public spotlight. The victims’ home addresses were published on the state’s website.
