Longmont Times-Call: Longmont is proposing $132,457 in annual funding for an artificial intelligence tool the city has used to draft police reports since 2024.

The funding request in the proposed 2027 budget would move Axon Draft One from one-time funding into the city’s ongoing operating expenses. It would not introduce the technology to the Longmont Police Department.

Draft One creates draft reports using transcripts from officers’ body-worn camera recordings. According to Axon’s website, officers must review and approve each report before submitting it.
