Times-Call (Longmont): Two Longmont City Council members whose emails are the subject of an open records request have questioned the propriety of having that search extend to their personal email accounts.

Several of their Council colleagues, however, contend it’s appropriate to respond to an open records request from someone seeking to check whether elected officials are using private emails to conduct city business.

At issue is the open records request resident Regina Cheyney filed Nov. 19 with the City Clerk’s Office seeking all personal emails of Councilwoman Joan Peck and Councilwoman Polly Christensen relating to city business.
