Judge orders records of Return to Nature Funeral Home owners to be released

Cañon City Daily Record: El Paso County District Court Judge William Moller on Friday ordered the arrest warrant and application involving the Return to Nature Funeral Home owners be released after a preliminary hearing slated for Feb. 8.

To protect the privacy of the 189 individuals discovered decaying in the Penrose funeral home in October, Moller ordered that information that might identify any potential victim and/or witness be redacted, as well as the victims’ dates of death and photos to protect the victims’ privacy.

“I am going to find that the public has a significant interest, not only the individuals and the families that have been affected by the cases itself but that the public has a right to know what the courts are doing,” Moller said.
