First Amendment lawsuit filed against school district

The Daily Sentinel: A lawsuit filed in federal court alleges Mesa County Valley School District 51 personnel violated a man’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly by filing harassment charges against him and barring him from district property.

The suit, filed in June by Kyle Lewis, names the district, district head of security Tim Leon, school district attorney Tammy Eret and Grand Junction Police officer Brian Degrange as defendants.

The lawsuit alleges First Amendment violations — including violating Lewis’s right to free speech, right to petition and retaliation, as well as malicious prosecution.
