Arvada Press: A fiery Arvada City Council meeting on Aug. 18 ended with one ethics investigation into Councilmember Sharon Davis’s conduct moving to a quasi-judicial hearing, another ethics investigation regarding Davis being dropped, and Davis declining to return to the dais after recusing herself.
The quasi-judicial hearing — which will see the other six councilmembers decide if Davis violated Arvada’s Code of Ethics — will take place at a date to be determined later by city council. If found guilty of violating the Code of Ethics, Davis could be formally censured or fined one month of her council stipend (about $1,600).
The ethics issue that advanced pertains to Davis allegedly breaching executive session privilege. Arvada City Council meets privately in executive session most often to receive legal advice; executive session meetings are closed to the public and are not part of the public record.
