Loveland settles public comment lawsuit for $42,500

Loveland Reporter-Herald: Loveland resident Gail Randall will receive $42,500, a public apology from Mayor Pat McFall and extra public comment time under the terms of a legal settlement approved by the City Council on Tuesday.

The agreement resolves a lawsuit Randall filed against the city and McFall in February alleging that her First Amendment rights were violated when the mayor ended her public comments during a City Council meeting for being “off topic.”

Council approved the settlement on a 5-3 vote after discussing the suit with attorneys in an executive session. Councilors Andrea Samson, Geoff Frahm and Kalina Middleton voted against the agreement. McFall did not participate in the discussion or the vote.
