Editorial: Previous pot convictions should still be a matter of public record

From The Denver Post:  Just because marijuana possession and use are now legal doesn’t change the fact that they used to be illegal, and that people were prosecuted and convicted under the previous law.

Those convictions are and should continue to be a matter of public record.

Unfortunately, a bipartisan proposal being developed by state Sens. Jessie Ulibarri, D-Westminster, and Vicki Marble, R-Fort Collins— two lawmakers usually separated by an ideological chasm — would allow anyone convicted of a marijuana offense that would now be legal to have that record sealed.
