The Daily Sentinel: How can a proposed overhaul of the state’s Open Records Act, which would lengthen the process for requests to be fulfilled by government entities, be considered any kind of enhancement of the public’s right to know?
It can’t. We’re about two weeks away from Sunshine Week, celebrating open-government laws and Senate Bill 25-77 rewrites the definition of timely access to records.
Why? Because school districts and municipalities across the state claim requests for public information crowd out work on other core services. So Sen. Cathy Kipp, D-Fort Collins and Sen. Janice Rich, R-Grand Junction are proposing some changes.
