Weld County Coroner completes Jonelle Matthews’ autopsy report, release of results is postponed

The Greeley Tribune: The Greeley Tribune and CBS Denver have agreed to a postponement of the release of Jonelle Matthews’ autopsy report.

Matthews went missing Dec. 20, 1984, after a friend’s father dropped her off at the Matthews’ home in Greeley after Matthews sang in a Franklin Middle School choir concert in downtown Greeley.

After Matthews’ remains were found July 23 off Weld County Road 49, near Weld road 34.5, the Greeley Tribune requested the autopsy report from the Weld County Coroner’s Office under the Colorado Open Records Act. The coroner completed the autopsy and on Jan. 17, filed a petition to withhold the report on the grounds it would be against the public’s interest.
