Two rural counties receive grants to digitize records

Colorado Politics: The Secretary of State’s office has awarded grants to two rural counties to purchase new equipment and put records online.

“With the help of the Electronic Recording Technology Board, Washington and San Juan counties will be able upgrade to the latest technologies to meet their constituents’ needs and digitize historical records,” Secretary Jena Griswold said.

The ERTB began in 2016 after a group of real estate, legal, and title and lending professionals evaluated the preservation of land records in Colorado. Griswold’s office reports that the board has since awarded $4 million to county clerks to improve their record keeping.
