Southeast Colorado highway patrol first in state to roll out body cameras

The Pueblo Chieftain: Colorado State Patrol will debut body-worn cameras in Southeast Colorado by the end of August, according to the highway patrol.

District 2, encompassing southeast Colorado, will be the first of five regions to roll out body cameras for all troopers, followed by the Denver Metro area, with the entire state patrol to be outfitted with body cameras by the end of February 2023.

Approximately 140 Axon cameras will be deployed in the Southeast Region and about 1,000 will be used across the state, including approximately 750 for uniformed officers and security for ports of entry and around the state capitol, said Trooper Ryan Kessler, a spokesman for the state patrol.
