Fort Collins Coloradoan: The parents of a student at Beattie Elementary School have filed a civil complaint against Poudre School District’s Board of Education for what they claim are violations of the state’s open meetings laws.
The crowd-funded legal challenge, filed Nov. 4 with the 8th Judicial District Court by Jonna and Landon Yarrington, claims that meetings of a PSD planning committee working on a recommendation of school consolidations, closures and boundary changes should have been open to the public.
That committee, they said, was formulating public policy “as a formally constituted advisory committee of a political subdivision and therefore a local public body under the Colorado Open Meetings Law.”
