Loveland Reporter-Herald: The Loveland City Council took a small step toward repairing relations between the factions on Tuesday, when an attempt by Councilor Laura Light-Kovacs to extend an olive branch in the recent open meetings case was narrowly approved by the other five.
By a vote of 3 to 2, members agreed to consider a future budget appropriation to cover the legal expenses incurred by Dana Foley, Pat McFall, Steve Olson and Andrea Samson during a special counsel investigation to determine whether they held an illegal meeting prior to the Centerra South urban renewal vote last year. (The four members in question recused themselves prior to the discussion and vote.)
“It’s wild to me that if charges were filed that we would then cover their legal fees, but because charges are not being filed we don’t,” the Ward 4 representative said in support of her new business motion. “I think that’s a dangerous precedent to set.”
