Longmont urges people to participate remotely in City Council meetings

Times-Call (Longmont): Longmont is urging residents to provide public comments in writing or via video or telephone messages, instead of showing up to speak in person at City Council meetings.

The city is making that appeal “in order to protect residents, staff, and elected officials due to the novel COVID-19 virus,” city staff said in a Monday news release.

Council will hold this week’s regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Longmont Public Library’s Rooms A and B, 409 Fourth Ave.

The Longmont Public Library is one of several city buildings that were closed to the public as of Friday, but it will be opened between 6 and 6:30 p.m. to admit Council, staff and others attending Tuesday night’s meeting.
