Grand Junction again ignores transparency in pay raise issue

The Daily Sentinel (Grand Junction): Members of the Grand Junction City Council decided on sizable raises for the city’s top two positions earlier this month, but they did it via group email — seemingly a clear violation of Colorado’s Open Meetings Law.

On Dec. 3, Mayor Rick Taggart sent a group email to the other six council members, with the subject line “City Manager and City Attorney Compensation 2020.”

It began: “Hi all, attached for your review are the compensation comparison charts for both Greg and John. I would appreciate it if you could review these documents so we can finalize their 2020 compensation.”
