Family of teen shot in back by police say Colorado Springs police deceptively edited video of shooting

The Denver Post: Family members of a 19-year-old man shot in the back and killed by Colorado Springs police are demanding to see the raw body camera footage, claiming the department released a misleading edited version of what happened.

The family of De’Von Bailey continue to demand an independent investigation of the fatal shooting on Aug. 3 involving Sgt. Alan Van’t Land and Officer Blake Evenson of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Colorado Springs police promoted its own narrative of the shooting by splicing together parts of 911 calls and dispatch tapes to create a video “manipulated to mislead the viewer,” family attorney Mari Newman and the Rev. Promise Lee wrote in a Wednesday news release.
