The Pueblo Chieftain: Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor said Thursday that a video clip showing one of his deputies holding a “Blue Klux Klan” pin before stuffing it into the pocket of his vest is not what it purports to be.
“It’s obviously a complete setup from the beginning, in my opinion,” Taylor told The Pueblo Chieftain as he pointed to body camera footage of the incident on a large screen inside a conference room at the Pueblo County jail.
The video, which went viral after being posted to social media, was taken after a protest at the Christopher Columbus monument in Pueblo’s Mesa Junction area this past Sunday.
The 8-second video clip that garnered heavy traffic on Facebook and Twitter shows Deputy Sam Wolfe holding the pin as two women ask him about it.
