Colorado Public Radio: The sentencing of a Denver activist convicted of doxing a police officer is sparking debate over the powers of Colorado’s law, which focuses on the act of releasing a person’s contact information or other personal details online with malicious intent.
Regan Benson, 53, a frequent critic of the Denver Police Department and advocate for unhoused people, was sentenced to 60 days of jail time, two years of probation and a $1,000 fine on Friday. She was also ordered to take a victim empathy class.
In March, a jury found she violated the state’s anti-doxing statute, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
