BVSD adding paralegal position after public records request increase

Boulder Daily Camera: Citing an “astronomical” increase in public information requests, the Boulder Valley School District plans to add a paralegal next school year to manage its requests.

“You have a small number of folks constantly submitting (Colorado Open Records Act) requests,” Superintendent Rob Anderson said at a recent school board meeting. “We just don’t have the bandwidth.”

The district received 117 public information requests from June 2021 to April 21, including requests that were modified after the original request was made. The neighboring St. Vrain Valley School District, which is slightly larger than Boulder Valley, received about 50 requests over the same time period.
