Weld County commissioners remove public comment from future board meeting agendas

Greeley Tribune: The section for public comments will not appear on future Weld County commissioner meeting agendas after Chairman Kevin Ross sent out an email citing abuse of public comment during a March 6 commissioner meeting.

Ross said four commissioners of the five-member board were in favor and that they made the move in an effort to keep discussion at meetings focused on county business. All resolutions or amendments to the agenda must also now be submitted to the chair at least one-and-a-half days prior to meetings to be considered, according to the email sent out by Ross.

Ross cited a Fort Collins city council meeting last week which ended abruptly when dozens of people calling for a local resolution supporting a cease-fire in Gaza began shouting inside the council chambers as an example of what they are trying to prevent.
