From Colorado Public Radio: When reporters asked Michigan officials for e-mails about the lead problem in Flint’s water supply, they got a ton of them. Some from as far back as 2011, which means they were saved. Reporters were able to piece together what state and local officials knew about the Flint crisis, and when they knew it with those the emails.
But Todd Shepherd says there’s no guarantee the same could happen in Colorado. He’s an investigative reporter with the Independence Institute, the free-market think tank in Denver. He spoke to Colorado Matters Host Ryan Warner as we mark Sunshine Week, an annual effort to shed light on the need for open and transparent public information.
