Mesa County approves legal notices contract

The Daily Sentinel: The Mesa County Commissioners approved a contract with The Daily Sentinel to publish legal notices Tuesday, one week after directing staff to explore ways around the posting of legal notices in a newspaper, which is required by Colorado law.

Legal notices are for things such as foreclosure notices, tax lien sales, contract notices and other similar postings, the majority of which are paid for by entities other than the government such as law firms and banks.

County Commissioner Cody Davis, who initially asked last week for the item to be continued, said he was voting to approve the contract but still disagreed with the premise of the law.
