Judge grants Loveland’s petition in records case

Loveland Reporter-Herald: Citing “integrity of the city and its promise,” 8th Judicial District Judge Joseph Findley granted a petition filed by the city of Loveland related to a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request filed by Mayor Jacki Marsh.

Before a crowded courtroom at the Larimer County Justice Center on Tuesday, the judge said that the city has a duty to keep its promise of confidentiality to employees and not release detailed responses to an engagement survey, even if it’s the mayor asking for them.

“To violate that would be a great breach of the employees by those in power,” he said, delivering his ruling. “This is not the other way. Those with more power than them are seeking their answers.”
