Editorial: Another agency obstructs the public’s right to know

The Denver Gazette: The Regional Transportation District (RTD), Colorado’s largest and messiest mass transit bureaucracy, has a new proposal that will mistreat average Coloradans who seek public documents.

RTD board member Chris Nicholson’s crusade to cap public records fees for “legitimate members of the media” prioritizes a select few while leaving regular citizens to foot the bill.

This type of misguided scheme, set for a board vote this month, must be stopped at RTD and all other state, county and local government agencies.
