City of Loveland releases text messages, emails requested by Mayor Jacki Marsh

Loveland Reporter-Herald: The city of Loveland has released an expanded list of text messages and emails from Mayor Pro Tem Don Overcash that Mayor Jacki Marsh requested earlier this year after previously releasing only some of the messages.

While many of the messages show discussions between Overcash and Kelly Jones, Loveland’s economic development director,  regarding scheduling of phone calls and meetings as well as common pleasantries, it also showed a number of instances where the two expressed frustration toward Marsh and other councilors for their actions and decisions.

Marsh filed a Colorado Open Records Act request — similar to one made by Loveland attorney Troy Krenning in 2021 — in late January asking to see messages sent between Overcash and Jones dating back to 2019. While Marsh received many of the messages from that time frame, many were not released as city officials deemed them not public record or placed them in a gray area where they were unsure if they should be released under CORA.
