When is body camera video released of police shootings in Colorado? It depends where you live.

The Denver Post: On Aug. 24, Aurora police engaged in a violent encounter with an unarmed 23-year-old black man, who died six days later.

Less than two months later, Aurora police shot and injured two more individuals — one in his home, and another in an apartment parking lot. Both suspects were armed, police said.

In the final two cases, police released portions of the body camera footage with narration of facts from the deputy chief.

Police Chief Nick Metz said he wants to release body camera footage from the August death of Elijah McClain to lend more transparency to the investigation. But three months later, police still have it — advised by the district attorney’s office to keep it in house.
