The Denver Post: The University of Colorado Boulder’s media college announced Monday that it will stop funding its student-run news outlet, the CU Independent, at the end of the school year, and will instead develop a more faculty-led “student multimedia enterprise” to launch next fall.
The move by CU’s College of Media, Communication and Information is meant to offer students “an academic experience featuring a strong faculty mentorship component,” and will see the college’s relationship with the CU Independent “evolve” as the student news website becomes fully independent from the journalism program by summer.
