Romero: Finally open communication is coming back to Estes Park

Estes Park Trail-Gazette: Over the past few years, we/I at the Trail-Gazette have preached transparency and open communication with the residents of our community. As such, we/I editorialized on our lack of support for the new Town Trustees and the Mayor for not bringing back the Mayor Chats or the Trustee’s Talks once our town was open again in the new post-pandemic world.

Mayor Jirsa had these Coffees with the Mayor/Mayor chats on a monthly and consistent basis during his term and these were attended and appreciated by many in the community. The last one held was with then County Commissioner Donnelly and was packed to full capacity.  Our Trustees also held regular meetings with the public but were also canceled or never brought back after the Mayor choose to no longer hold her open meetings.
