Loveland council reviews open meetings laws after publication of Dec. 8 texting thread

Loveland Reporter-Herald: Loveland City Attorney Moses Garcia gave City Council members a refresher course on open meetings laws Tuesday, after Garcia said he was approached by councilors about scheduling the agenda item “on an expedited basis.”

Deputy City Attorney Alicia Calderón also gave the council a brief on open records laws and answered questions from members.

Setting the stage for Tuesday’s discussion was a Jan. 27 article in the Reporter-Herald that described how a group of councilors used private text messages to deliberate on a proposed ban on flavored tobacco and vaping product sales during a regular meeting.
