Loveland City Council to consider special counsel in open meetings case

Loveland Reporter-Herald: Loveland City Council will consider ending one Centerra South legal dispute and starting another on Tuesday, with votes on both a settlement in the McWhinney lawsuit and a request for a special counselor in an open meetings case on the agenda.

In the latter, Councilor Troy Krenning will use his 10 minutes of new business time to ask for a special counsel to investigate potential violations of the city charter brought to light in an open meetings lawsuit filed by Loveland resident Bill Jensen.

In his December complaint, Jensen alleges that, in the weeks before the May vote to approve Centerra South, seven City Council members held an improperly noticed meeting when they used email to circulate and electronically sign a letter to Colorado Gov. Jared Polis in opposition to a bill amending urban renewal law.
