Loveland City Council drops open meeting investigation

Loveland Reporter-Herald: After a brief discussion, the Loveland City Council decided on Tuesday that it will not pursue any further legal action in the case of alleged open meeting violations by four current and three former members. Though no vote was taken, the five councilors who participated in the discussion told acting Loveland City Attorney Vince Junglas that the special prosecutor’s decision seemed like a clear signal to move on.

“It’s my opinion that as council, there’s no further action that we should be taking in this matter,” said Laura Light-Kovacs. “And I think that if we do take further action on this matter, the belief is going to be that our results are tainted, our fingerprints are on it and it’s not going to be valid.”

The decision means that a Colorado Open Records Act request filed by special counsel Christopher Gregory will be dropped, said Junglas.
