Judge denies defense’s request in Boulder shooting case for total gag order

The Denver Gazette: The district court judge presiding over the case of the suspect in March’s massacre at Boulder’s southside King Soopers has denied defense attorneys’ requests for a full gag order to ban public discussion of the case by those involved.

Judge Ingrid Bakke wrote in the order filed Monday that the suspect’s defense attorneys have not identified specific statements made by prosecutors or law enforcement that violate his right to a fair trial or due process.

Rules of professional conduct for attorneys prohibit them from making statements likely to lead to prejudice in a case, which continues to apply, she wrote.
