Denver schools staff fears retaliation, ombudsman report finds

The Denver Gazette: An annual Denver Public Schools ombudsman report presented to the board of education on Thursday has found a troubling systemic trend that confirms a common refrain among parents and district employees — the fear of retaliation when speaking up about workplace issues.

Board members asked very few questions during the meeting and instead, they complimented the glossy pamphlet containing the report.

But the presentation to board members also did not highlight employees’ fear of retaliation. And Antoinette Hudson, the district’s ombudsman, did not characterize her findings as “systemic trends” but rather as “top issues.”
