ACLU sues Woodland Park School Board on behalf of citizen banned from meetings, property

Colorado Springs Independent: Woodland Park School District, its board of education and Superintendent Ken Witt face a federal lawsuit filed Aug. 3 by a district patron who alleges they violated his First Amendment right by banning him from the district for more than a year, after he made a sarcastic remark at a board meeting.

WPSD has made headlines since conservatives took control of the school board, as reported by NBC News and Colorado Public Radio — part of a trend that’s seen school boards policitized across the country.

Now, Logan Ruths, a long time Woodland Park resident and former employee (he was fired recently; more on that later), alleges he’s being illegally banned from district functions and district grounds.
