Settlement reached after man banned from the Town of Kersey’s Facebook page

9NEWS: The Town of Kersey approved approved a settlement this week that’s one of the largest in Colorado related to freedom of speech issues.

Jared Morgan will be paid $45,000 as a result of the settlement which stemmed from him being blocked from Kersey’s official Facebook page. They’re also required to change their social media policy.

Morgan filed a federal lawsuit in January after his comments that were critical of the Town’s police chief were deleted from the Facebook page and he was later banned. Morgan’s blocking came after it was revealed in a 9NEWS story that Kersey had an unconstitutional policy of who could comment on its Facebook page.
