The Journal: A House bill aimed at changing where legal notices are published in Colorado newspapers is drawing opposition from the Colorado Press Association a day before a second committee reading.
The association worked closely with bill sponsor Rep. Larry Don Suckla, R‑Cortez, as he drafted House Bill 26-1095. The proposal addresses where public notices are published under state law – online, in print or both.
The bill’s original draft would have allowed government entities to choose between publishing in print or online – a proposal the association sharply opposes and described as extremely concerning.
