Pueblo recall effort over covert policy discussions in full gear

From The Pueblo Chieftain: With but two weeks left in the signature-gathering drive, those seeking the recall of City Council members Ami Nawrocki and Sandy Daff were hard at work Saturday at several locations around the city, as well as going door-to-door in the councilwomens’ districts.

The recall was initiated by local disposal companies after emails between the councilwomen, former City Councilman Chris Kaufman and former county official Greg Severance revealed covert policy discussions on trash collection, the city’s hiring of a trash consultant and other issues.

At the North Side Albertsons, Lois Compton, a co-owner of A-Affordable Disposal, was on hand to both collect signatures and answer any questions citizens offered. Petition gatherers manned both Albertsons and King Soopers.

“It’s a bit slower today than in weekends past,” she said, noting that at this point in the drive, most everyone who has wanted to sign the petition has done so.
