From The Pueblo Chieftain: City Council President Sandy Daff surprised the audience at Tuesday’s meeting by announcing she is resigning her seat on Oct. 31.
The target of a recall drive by the city’s trash haulers, Daff protested that she was being driven out of office for wanting to change the city’s trash collection process.
“As long as this special interest group of haulers is in charge, your city will not get any cleaner,” she said.
Daff’s resignation comes just a week after council picked Dennis Flores to replace former Councilman Chris Kaufman, who suddenly resigned on Aug. 12.
Daff, Kaufman and Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki were revealed in news reports this summer to have been making city policy, especially concerning trash collection, in emails among each other.
