From The Pueblo Chieftain: Audio recordings of City Council’s executive sessions on March 17 and 24 show they talked about economic development behind closed doors, but those discussions were not recorded because City Attorney Dan Kogovsek said they fell under attorney-client protections.
Possibly, but when the recorder was turned on again March 17, Councilman Steve Nawrocki and Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki can be heard enthusiastically talking about the need to repave Santa Fe Avenue and Main Street to help economic development.
The records seem to confirm what Councilman Chris Nicoll complained about two weeks ago — that council abused its executive session power to privately discuss a plan to ask voters to redirect part of the city’s half-cent tax for job recruitment to other uses, such as fixing streets and other improvements.
“That March 17 discussion (which lasted 40 minutes) was probably the one where the blueprint for the half-cent plan was laid out,” Nicoll said. “I remember it being a long discussion.”
