From The Monte Vista Journal: Monte Vista Police Chief James Grayson began his report stating that it might be the most uncomfortable conversation he has had with the council to date. Grayson said part of the following incident he was not allowed to disclose, because of a court order, but that he would speak in general terms about what he could disclose to the public.
“There are areas of the criminal justice system that are preventing us from delivering quality service to the community,” said Grayson. “Some of it is ludicrous; some of it is outright corrupt.”
Grayson went on to explain that in March of this year a young lady in the community died and her death was ruled a suicide.
“We have been trying to investigate that case along with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI),” said Grayson. “Her death has officially been ruled a suicide, but none of us, including her family, believe this to be true.”
Grayson said he had tried several times to get the autopsy report from the county coroner and was unsuccessful even after submitting a Colorado Open Records Request.
