Monument activist group, Town Council clash over regulation of signs

The Gazette: A newly formed First Amendment activist group in Monument claims a town ordinance regulating the placement of signs, as well as the town’s enforcement of the code, unconstitutionally prohibits free speech.

Monument Citizens for the First Amendment raised concerns this month after observing that few political signs have been posted in public rights of way ahead of the Nov. 7 election, group member and former state Rep. Amy Stephens said.

The town has also removed political signs that have been posted in public rights of way, she said.
