The Daily Sentinel: A man accused of strangling a TV reporter in December 2024 after following the reporter to his workplace in December 2024 has been found competent to proceed to trial.
Patrick Egan, 40, was found incompetent to stand trial on the last day of a five-day trial Jan. 9, leading Judge Jennilynne Lawrence to declare a mistrial.
In declaring a mistrial, Lawrence referenced an outburst from Egan at the end of the previous day, as well as other actions she had noticed during the trial.
