The Gazette: An El Paso County District Court judge ruled Monday to dismiss the remainder of a lawsuit filed last year against the Pikes Peak Library District Board of Trustees after their vote to let the Rockrimmon Library branch close.
Judge Gregory Werner issued an order Monday dismissing complaints that the library board violated the Colorado Open Meetings Law and an attempt to reverse the library closure using the state’s Rule 106 appeal process for government decisions.
The lawsuit stemmed from the Board of Trustees meeting in October when they voted 5-2 not to renew the lease for the Rockrimmon Library. Rockrimmon had been one of two branches singled out for potential closure in the library district’s facilities master plan because of the cost for the lease, which was around $240,000 per year, and maintenance concerns.
