Judge finds Glenwood Springs council violated open meetings law

Aspen Daily News: A ruling delivered Wednesday by a district judge will allow the release of a confidential recording of an August executive session held by the Glenwood City Council concerning the employment contract of its then-city manager.

In a special meeting held Thursday to address the ruling and its ramifications, the council opted not to appeal the order or use legal means to redact the recording.

Ninth Judicial District Judge Elise V. Myer’s written ruling said the council ran afoul of the state’s open meetings law when it took an official action during the executive session, which was closed to the public, regarding the employment of then-City Manager Beverli Marshall.
