Grand Junction City Council member raises concerns about executive sessions

The Daily Sentinel: A Grand Junction City Council member raised objections last week to the way council is conducting executive sessions.

Speaking after an executive session last Wednesday, Council Member Dennis Simpson said in his opinion council had made a decision while in executive session, which is prohibited under Colorado law.

“I believe that the executive session that we just held violated the Colorado open meeting law because we are not supposed to be making decisions in executive session,” Simpson said. “And we made a de facto decision just now.”
