9NEWS: The Federal Communications Commission and U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday approved the proposed acquisition of 9NEWS parent company TEGNA by FOX31 parent company Nexstar.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr posted the news on social media Thursday evening. Nexstar announced in a news release that it closed the acquisition after the approval by the FCC and the DOJ.
The consolidated company will own multiple stations in Denver, where Nexstar owns FOX31 KDVR and KWGN, and TEGNA currently owns 9NEWS KUSA and KTVD.
