Colorado virtual courtrooms targeted in pornographic ‘Zoom bombing’ attacks, criminal investigation underway

Boulder Daily Camera: Courtrooms across Colorado have been targeted in recent weeks by abrupt interruptions of pornographic content that is being shown through the court’s livestreaming system, Webex.

The attacks, generally known as Zoom bombing, have led law enforcement to launch a criminal investigation to identify the perpetrators while the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and State Judicial Information Technology teams work to prevent the incidents from occurring again, according to Boulder County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Shannon Carbone.

The Cambridge Dictionary describes Zoom bombing as, “in essence, crashing a digital meeting and doing things like screaming obscenities or broadcasting pornography.”
