Boulder City Council open comment chaos continues as protesters, commenters feel suppressed

Boulder Daily Camera: Nearly three months without open comments during the Boulder City Council meetings did little to simmer long-boiling tensions.

After a raucous public comments portion that opened the meeting on Thursday, it then went into recess and the public was removed from the council chambers at the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building, 1777 Broadway, Boulder. While the recess came down to a specific violation of the rules of decorum, members of the public continued to clash over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, and Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Mayor Aaron Brockett called the council into recess because a woman was standing and blocking people’s views, refusing to sit down, according to audio from the livestream. The council’s rules of decorum state that attendees cannot obstruct the view of others.
